Long Ride

I took a longer bike ride yesterday, 32 miles. I didn’t push it hard and averaged about 16mph during the ride. Eventually this biking should lead up to a century ride, hopefully before the snow flies. It’s exactly 100 miles to my home town, so I’d like to bike it.
I’m definitely not ready yet. After 32 miles I was pretty worn out. My glutes were especially sore (more from pedalling than the seat). I’m thinking of replacing running with three weekly bike rides, two short interval workouts and one long ride equal to the short rides. Hopefully this will get me ready to ride home in less than a month.
As an aside I’ve grown pretty fond of oatmeal for breakfast. Try it with raisins, cinnamon, a splash of milk and a big dollop of yogurt. It’s a fantastic breakfast that really sticks with you for a while.
